RAWALPINDI: President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has stated that Pakistani socialism did not mean a break with the cultural past and accepted the limited part of Marxism confined to scientific economic doctrine. He explained the content of Pakistani socialism championed by his party in an interview with the … West German magazine “Der Spiegel”. … He defended the continuance of emergency in Pakistan so long as the present war conditions remained.

He also defended the action against some publications and maintained that these newspapers were indulging in nothing but filthy abuses. So far as the editor of a Karachi newspaper was concerned, it was wrong to describe him as the editor. He was an ex civil servant and the Government had enough material with it which justified proceeding against him. — News agencies
