LAHORE: National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf has quit the PPP central Punjab president office.

“The NA speaker under the Constitution can not hold the party office therefore he has quit it (PPP central Punjab president ),” Raja told a press conference here on Saturday.

To a question about acceptance of the PTI MNAs resignations, he said he would call them at his office soon in this regard. “Only the handwritten resignation of a lawmaker declaring that he has submitted without any pressure is accepted,” he said. It may be mentioned that ousted Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar had sent a ‘typed/printed’ letter addressed and submitted to the prime minister but the ruling coalition in which the PPP is part of is reluctant to have the same view on this.
