KARACHI: A young man was shot at and wounded by armed muggers over resistance in Defence Housing Authority, police said on Saturday.

They said that three armed motorcyclists intercepted Zubair Shabbir, 28, who was also on a motorbike, held him at gunpoint and snatched his cell phone near Saba Avenue in Phase-VI.

Darakshan SHO Naseer Tanoli said that the robbery victim told the police that he chased the fleeing suspects up to two-three kilometres and one of them fired at him and rode away.

He suffered a bullet wound in the shoulder and was shifted to a private hospital in the DHA, where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

The officer said the investigators were trying to obtain CCTV footage from the areas concerned.

They were also using technology to trace the muggers.

Man commits suicide

A young man committed suicide in Baldia Town on early Saturday morning.

Area SHO Mohammed Nawaz Gondal said that Ashraf Mohammed, 35, ended his life by hanging himself with the ceiling fan inside his home in Rashidabad.
