MANSEHRA: The police on Friday arrested a man for stoning to death a young girl after assaulting her in Dabgrat area of Oghi.

Oghi police station SHO Wajid Khan told reporters that the victim, 12, had gone to a nearby forest to graze her goats and sheep, where she was allegedly assaulted by the suspect, identified as Samiullah.

“When the girl didn’t return home her family started search for her, and found her body, which was buried in the ground after digging a hole,” Mr Wajid Khan said.

He said the body was taken to the Oghi Civil Hospital for postmortem, where doctors confirmed the victim was first assaulted and then stoned to death.

“It was a blind murder, but the police team led by SP Oghi circle Tahir Qureshi managed to arrest the suspect,” Mr Khan said. The SHO said police, after lodging an FIR, had started investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, a man was killed and another injured when a tractor-trolley fell into a ravine in Tilli Syedan village of Torghar district.

The locals shifted them to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced of them – Mohammad Akram – stated to be the driver as dead.

In another incident, Luqman Khan drowned while taking bath in Muchoro stream in Oghi. The locals fished out the body and handed it over to the family.
