LAHORE: A man shot himself and got injured shortly after he gunned down a woman in Raiwind area here on Monday.

As per police, the incident occurred in Aminpura Colony of Raiwind City where the suspect, Shafiq, exchanged hot words with Naseem Bibi over a minor issue.

A police official said Sahfiq was in contact with Naseem, wife of one Amanat Ali, for a couple of years and had been asking her to get a divorce from her husband.

On Monday, Shafiq exchanged hot words with Naseem over the issue and in a fit of anger shot her, leaving her dead on the spot, the police official said, adding that later the suspect also shot himself, but survived.

He said the police reached the spot on being called by a local and shifted the woman’s body to the city morgue and the injured man to hospital.

The matter was being investigated by police, he added.
