BAJAUR: An immunisation week will begin in Bajaur tribal district on Sunday (today).

According to a statement issued on Saturday, the decision to observe the week was taken at a meeting attended by officials of the district administration and health department. Additional deputy commissioner Zohib Hayat chaired the meeting.

District health officer Dr Faisal Kamal, Extended Programme on Immunisation coordinator Dr Shafiq Ahmad, a representative of World Health Organisation and others were in attendance.

The participants said the week would run until April 30 to vaccinate children against different diseases, including measles. They asked the people to extend support to the vaccinators to make the week a success.

Following the meeting, a walk was held to highlight the importance of the week.
