HYDERABAD, Dec 5: The Pakistan chapter of the Association of People of Asia has demanded that Indian consulate and visa office be set up in Karachi before the opening of the Khokhrapar route. In a joint statement issued here on Monday, the president of the association, Advocate Khursheed Ahmed Shaikh, Advocate Zafar Ahmed Rajput and Syed Abbas Ali Jafri said the people of Sindh would have to go to Islamabad to obtain Indian visa if arrangements were not made in Karachi before the opening of the Khokhrapar-Monabao train service.
They urged both the governments to consider the issue seriously as 90 per cent of the population which wanted to visit India belonged to Sindh.
PATENT SYSTEM: A three-day international training workshop on patent system organized by the National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh, was concluded here on Sunday evening.
A large number of scholars from various universities, institutes and research organizations across Pakistan, United States, UK and some other countries attended the workshop.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh Mazharul Haq Siddiqui.
The vice chancellor in his concluding remarks said the workshop had laid the foundation of the patent system in the country.
He said that with the adoption of patent system the findings of scientific research could be saved from illegal use.
He thanked the scholars for attending the workshop and reading their papers.
Dr M. Ashraf Ali, a scholar from Saudi Arabia, said there was a dire need to promote patent system and scholarly views among the Muslim world.
He said Muslims could regain their glory with continuous hard work.
The director of the Centre of Excellence presented a brief report about the workshop.
