RAWALPINDI: Over 50 incidents of street-crime have been reported to police, including theft of 18 motorcycles, three cars, 21 mobile phones and a substantial quantity of money by criminals who have been active in the city since several days.

Imran Akhtar, a resident of Railway Scheme 7, complained to Ratta Amral police that he was going home in his car after collecting Rs1 million when he was intercepted by two unidentified motorcycle riders. He said he tried to escape but stopped when gunshots were fired. He further said the robbers held him at gunpoint and snatched the cash from him.

Nasir Shahzad was robbed of two mobile phones and Rs52,000 by two unidentified persons in City police area, Khurram Aslam’s mobile phone was snatched at gunpoint in Ganjmandi, while Mohammad Imran was robbed of Rs2,800 and a mobile phone by two unidentified gunmen in Waris Khan area.

Raja Farhan Akhtar complained to Rawat police that he was on his way home after Iftar when he was intercepted by four people near a graveyard. He said he was held at gunpoint and forced to give up his motorcycle, Rs48,000 and a bag containing his clothes, ATM card and documents.

Abdul Sami, a trader, was deprived of Rs325,000 after unidentified burglars broke into his shop in Ganjmandi. Babar Shafiq was robbed of Rs5,060 and a mobile phone by two robbers in Waris Khan area while Syed Ayan Ali and Murad Ali were deprived of their mobile phones and cash at gunpoint.

Danish Fazal, a resident of Sadiqabad, was robbed of Rs5,000 and a mobile phone worth Rs100,000. Asif Mehmood was deprived of his mobile phone and Rs18,000 by two robbers in Westridge while Mohammad Akram was robbed of Rs20,000 by two unidentified persons and Jawad Hussain was deprived of cash and mobile phone in Westridge area.

Azizur Rehman’s car worth Rs2.1 million was stolen from outside his house in Wah Cantonment. Asima Dilawar’s Mehran was stolen from Sasta Bazaar Naseerabad while Mohammad Faizan’s car was stolen from Sadiqabad.
