QUETTA: A survey is being conducted on subsidised agriculture tube-wells in Lasbela district of Balochistan for ensuring smooth supply from K-Electric to growers in the district.

This was stated at a meeting held here on Thursday with Balochistan Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Mohammad Saleh Bhootani in the chair.

The survey is being jointly conducted by K-Electric, the district administration and the Zamindar Action Committee.

The meeting discussed issues relating to power supply from K-Electric to Lasbela and outstanding electricity dues against growers. It was attended, among others, by Balochistan Chief Secretary Mather Niaz Rana, Finance Secretary Hafiz Abdul Basit and Agriculture Secretary Umaid Ali Khokhar.

The meeting was briefed on subsidy being provided to agriculture tube-wells in the district. It was decided that the Balochistan government would immediately pay a portion of the outstanding electricity dues for an uninterrupted power supply. It was also decided to install meters on tube-wells.
