KARACHI: Six suspected criminals were shot at and wounded in alleged police encounters in different parts of the metropolis on Wednesday.

The Bilal Colony police claimed that an ‘encounter’ between police and robbers took place in North Karachi’s Sector-5-D. After an exchange of firing, suspect Mustafa Husain, 28, was arrested in an injured condition while his two accomplices managed to escape from the crime scene, they said, claiming to have recovered one TT pistol and one stolen motorbike from him. The injured was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Two suspected robbers were shot at and wounded in an alleged encounter in Cattle Colony.

The Sukkan police said the encounter between police and the robbers took place near Makhi Shah Mazar. Two suspects, identified as Mohammed Panah and Amir Qadir, were wounded in the exchange of gunfire and arrested. One TT pistol with two rounds, three mobile phones and one motorbike were recovered from them.

They were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment.

In Al-Falah police jurisdiction, an ‘encounter’ between the police and robbers took place at Kala Board near Bagh-i-Malir. After an exchange of firing, suspect Ayub Ameen, 29, was arrested in an injured condition while his other accomplice fled.

The police said one TT pistol, a motorbike and cash were recovered from him. He was shifted to the JPMC for treatment.

Suspected peddlers wounded in ‘encounter’

In Quaidabad, two suspected drug peddlers were arrested in a wounded condition following a shootout between them and police.

Police claimed the encounter took place at the Rehri Goth graveyard near Ihsan Ground. After an exchange of gunfire, two suspects — Hanif and Said Umar — suffered bullet wounds and were taken into custody. They were shifted to the JPMC for treatment.

The police claimed to have recovered two TT pistols, 70-gram heroin and one motorbike from their custody.
