TAXILA: A man allegedly beat his wife to death over a domestic dispute in the jurisdiction of Wah Cantonment police station on Tuesday.

Rehana Bibi reported to police that her daughter Shamsa Kanwal was subjected to severe torture by her husband and she succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.

The autopsy was conducted at Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital which confirmed that Kanwal was tortured. A case was registered against the victim’s husband and police are looking for him.

Separately, a man was killed when his brother allegedly hit a stick in his head during an argument over a domestic dispute in Mohallah New Town.

Meanwhile, 11 people including six gamblers were arrested. According to a police spokesman, Attock Saddar police raided a gambling den and arrested six people while they were gambling. Attock Khurd police foiled a bid to smuggle 1.2 kilogrammes hashish and arrested a drug smuggler. Injra police recovered an illegal weapon from Khurrum Shahzad while Attock Saddar police recovered drugs from Tahir Nawaz.

During a crackdown against proclaimed offenders (POs), Attock police arrested two men. According to a police spokesman, Bassal police arrested Mohammad Bilal and Hassanabdal police arrested Mohammad Maruf.
