RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a man for being involved in currency smuggling in Malakand.

Deputy director FIA Mohammad Afzal Khan Niazi said in a press release that following directives by the Director General FIA Sanaullah Abbasi a team was constituted to arrest the accused, wanted in an FIR registered in Peshawar last year and since then he had been hiding.

According to FIA the accused was running a currency exchange business in Batkhele since 2015 without any licence.

He purchased foreign currency from different customers and sold it to different exchange companies.

The FIA said the accused was involved in currency exchange business amounting to Rs430 million.

He will be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.

Earlier, the FIA conducted three raids against illegal business of Hawala Hundi and currency smuggling in Bunner and arrested four accused and recovered Rs7,259,100.
