SRINAGAR, Dec 4: An Indian policeman and four militants were killed on Sunday in grenade attacks and gunbattles that also left 16 people wounded in occupied Kashmir, police said.

The policeman was killed by a grenade during a raid on a suspected militant hideout in Tral, 40 kilometers south of Srinagar, police said.

“Two policemen and four army soldiers were also injured in the attack,” a police spokesman said.

Indian troops shot dead four militants in two separate gunbattles in Anantnag and Baramulla district, the spokesman said.

Three of the slain rebels were from the Lashkar-i-Toiba, while the identity of the fourth was not immediately known.—AFP
