KANDAHAR, Dec 4: One Afghan civilian was killed and three others, including a US soldier, were injured on Sunday in an apparent suicide attack targeted at a US military convoy in southern Afghanistan, police said.

“There was a suicide attack against a US led-coalition convoy in the western outskirts of Kandahar city today. One passerby was killed and two others were wounded,” police spokesman Abdul Hakim Angar told AFP.

“The suicide bomber was walking and detonated himself but missed the US convoy,” he added. However, a spokesman for the US-led military said the attack involved an improvised explosive device (IED).

MP KILLED: A newly elected Afghan parliamentarian was killed on Sunday when a row about a fire in a wood yard erupted into an armed clash that left four men dead, government officials said.
