RAWALPINDI: An attempt to smuggle heroin to the United States (US) through a private courier company was foiled by officials of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).

Officials said the first seizure was made in light of intelligence that a large quantity of narcotics was ready to be smuggled to the US through parcels. The ANF staff conducted a raid at the courier service’s outlet located in new Airport Town Islamabad and recovered 910 grams of heroin that was concealed in bed sheets and was booked by a resident of Chakwal for a man in the US.

The ANF has registered a first information report (FIR) and launched an investigation. Likewise, more narcotics were seized during a raid conducted at a private courier company located at Wazir Abad Road, Sialkot and officials recovered 23.8 kilogrammes of ketamine, which was concealed in plastic pipes.

According to ANF, the consignment was booked for Kazakhstan.
