ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notice to the health secretary in a petition filed by a man seeking medical facility for his ailing son under health card introduced by the PTI government.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah took up a complaint filed before the Human Rights Cell of the high court.

The court then converted the complaint into a writ petition.

The petitioner, a citizen of Islamabad, stated that the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) had refused to give medical treatment to his ailing son studying in the FSc.

According to the complainant, the disease could be cured through an expensive injection but Pims refused them the injection.

The complainant requested the court to issue direction to the government for bearing expenses of medical treatment of his son under health card.

The court issued notice to secretary health and sought his response by April 13.

It may be mentioned that the government last year launched “Naya Pakistan Sehat Card” programme assuring Rs1 million health coverage for each entitled family.
