LAHORE: As many as 28 alumni of Lahore University of Management and Sciences (Lums) have passed the recently held Central Superior Services (CSS) examinations.

Three alumni also secured top positions, including Hafiz Ali Naeem Sheikh, a graduate of BSc Management Science (2017), who stood first and has been inducted into the Pakistan Administrative Services (PAS).

He is joined by Ahsan Fraz Gondal, a graduate of BSc Accounting and Finance (2019), and Haroon Sahu, BSc Economics and Mathematics (2020), who secured the second and third positions in the CSS exam 2021, respectively.

Lums Vice Chancellor Dr Arshad Ahmad said the CSS exams were not a small feat and it would take months of study and preparation.

He said 28 alumni, including the top position holders, belonged to the university.

When asked how Lums helped the students prepare for the examinations, Ahsan Gondal said the institution had played a key role in equipping him with analytical and critical thinking tools.

Mr Sheikh, a National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholar, said he actively participated in extracurricular activities at the university and connected with peers belonging to different academic and social backgrounds.

He said the experience helped him get selected for the Near East and South Asia Exchange Scholarship Programme to study in the US for a year and ultimately motivated him to join the civil service.

LUMS Director of Advancement Office Nuzhat Kamran said the alumni also took top three positions this year and would join a community of over 200 alumni, who have passed these exams to date.
