Shaharyar to leave for India today

Published December 3, 2005

LAHORE, Dec 2: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar M Khan will leave for India from Karachi on Saturday to discuss bilateral relations between the two boards, especially to discuss the itinerary of Indian tour to Pakistan scheduled in January.

The PCB chairman surprisingly decided to tour India at a time when Pakistan are about to register their first Test victory after a long time under the captaincy of Inzamamul Haq on Saturday.

Pakistan are 1-0 up against England in the home series and are in a strong position of either winning or making it a draw in Lahore on Saturday.

It would be the first visit of the PCB chairman to India after a new body came into power in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently.

The PCB wants to get approval of the itinerary as soon as possible. But despite various reminders the BCCI has still not given a final go ahead.
