SWABI: Unidentified robbers took away Rs2.5 million cash and 53 tola gold ornaments from the house of a Hindu community member in the Topi city here in the wee hours on Wednesday.
Police officials said that the incident occurred in Chaodher area.
SHO Topi city police station Ayub Khan told Dawn that the police after registering an FIR had arrested Jazbeer Lal, a son-in-law of Gangavesh, the father of the house owner, Gopal Roy.
He said that Gangavesh was a well-known hakeem in the district.
District police officer Mohammad Shoaib Khan said that the suspect admitted to his involvement in the robbery.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Sabir Khan was deprived of Rs4.3 million cash when he was on way home in the district headquarters on Tuesday night.
He told mediapersons that five people riding two motorcycles stopped him, snatched the bag containing money from him at gunpoint and disappeared in the darkness.
Separately, a man was killed and his father was injured when their rivals opened fire on them in Gala village on Wednesday over a land dispute.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Khan, the police said, adding his injured father, Razi Khan, got registered an FIR against the suspect, namely Jabeen Khan.
Also in the day, unidentified assailants shot dead a man in Razaar tehsil, rescue officials said, adding that the victim was targeted near a petrol pump on the Shewa Adda-Dagai Road. The cause of the incident was not known.
