GILGIT: A two-day competition of local musical bands to highlight culture of Gilgit-Baltistan concluded here on Monday.

The ‘Battle of Bands’ competitions 2022 were held in Wahab Shaheed Ground in Gilgit organised by the Pakistan Army.

Six pipe bands in collective category and 21 artists in individual category performed at the show.

A large number of people, civil and military officials witnessed the musical competitions.

The participants appreciated the event as it was the first of its kind held in the region to promote local musical bands and artists.

The unique performances of artists, particularly persons with disabilities, enthralled the audience.

Experts from the Army School of Music, Abbottabad, and military installations in GB judged the performances.

Individual performances were evaluated on the basis of different melodies, mastery of musical instruments and control of breath.

The first position was won by Aga Khan Diamond Jubilee Band, Dynor, Gilgit, and the second position was secured by Golden Jubilee Pipe Band, Aliabad, Hunza.

In individual category among the special persons, Nazimuddin Hunzai secured the first spot, whereas Inzamam Khan won the title of individual instrument performance (flute).
