SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 30: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said that work on Amritsar-Nankana Road is under way and it will be completed soon. He was talking to the press along with East Punjab Chief Minister Raja Amrinder Singh after his arrival at Nankana Sahib on Wednesday.

The chief minister said all possible facilities were being provided to minorities in Pakistan without any discrimination.

He said Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus service would be started shortly.

Speaking on the occasion, Raja Amrinder Singh said the ongoing peace process would play a vital role in the socio-economic development of both the countries.

Federal Religious Affairs Minister Ijazul Haq said a huge amount was being spent on the maintenance and upkeep of ‘gurdwaras’ and execution of other development projects.

Federal Railways Minister Mian Shamim Haider, Evacuee Property Trust Board Chairman Zulfiqar Ali Khan and Pakistan Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee President Sardar Mastan Singh were also present.

At Gurdwara Janam Asthan, Sikh pilgrims performed their religious rites amid tight security.

BUSES IMPOUNDED: Police on Wednesday impounded a number of buses and wagons to bring people to the venue of the chief minister’s public meeting in Sharqpur on Thursday (today).

The police action caused a great deal of inconvenience to commuters who were criticizing the government. Pervaiz Elahi is likely to announce a development package for the people residing in NA-132 (Sharqpur) where by-election will be held.

The seat had fallen vacant after Sahibzada Mian Jalil Ahmad Sharqpuri contested for the slot of Sheikhupura district nazim.
