ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood on Friday said women entrepreneurs were full of talent and promoting them was the key focus of the government so that they could increase exports and play a more effective role in the economic development of the country.

He said this while inaugurating a women entrepreneurs’ exhibition at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Friday.

The adviser appreciated the efforts of women entrepreneurs for producing quality products and assured them that the government would work for their further facilitation. He also appreciated the initiative of the ICCI for providing a platform to the women entrepreneurs for display of their products, adding such exhibitions played an important role in business development, trade and export promotion.

Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr Fehmida Mirza also visited the exhibition and appreciated the products displayed by the women entrepreneurs. She also assured them that the government would make more conducive policies for women entrepreneurs for better growth of their businesses.

Ambassador of Belgium Philippe Bronchain, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Vice Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama with his wife, Ambassador of Indonesia Adam M. Tugio with his spouse and MPA Seemabia Tahir also visited the exhibition and took keen interest in the products.

ICCI President Mohammad Shakeel Munir said promoting women entrepreneurs was an important priority of ICCI and the chamber would try to organise training programmes for women entrepreneurs so that they could use online platforms to promote their business at local and international level.

The exhibition featured embroidered rugs, table runners, furniture, gems and jewellery, clothing for women and children, gardening items, pottery, paintings, footwear and women’s health and hygiene, pets and publications.

University students have also been given space to set up their stalls and display their innovative projects.
