PESHAWAR: Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Ijaz Khan said on Thursday that the police had carried out a security audit of places of worship and educational institutions to improve security following the recent suicide bombing in a Koocha Risaldar mosque.

A statement issued here said that Mr Khan was talking to a delegation of Muttahida Amn Committee.

Mr Ijaz said that the police had improved the security of worship places after the security audit. Besides, he said that the police were beefing up security at the exit and entry points of the capital city.

In addition, he said that they were also collecting data of those, who had rented houses.

Mr Ijaz said that the police had also focused on strengthening its human intelligence capabilities.

On this occasion, Muttahida Amn Committee head Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani expressed his satisfaction over the security arrangements at the places of worship.

He also assured the police chief of their cooperation in maintenance of law and order in the capital city.
