SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 29: Over 200 educational institutions in the district have been closed while scores of others are short of staff. In a report to the special secretary (schools), Government of the Punjab, the district coordination officers put the blame of this mess on the EDO (education).

The DCO also accused the EDO of committing financial irregularities in the head of Punjab Education Sector Reforms Programme for 2003-04. He said that a sum of Rs10.902 million was withdrawn by the EDO in connivance with district accounts office without release/sanction by the competent authority.

When this correspondent contacted EDO Yusuf Gull to seek his reaction, he refused to give comments on the DCOs allegations.

In his report, the DCO recommended Gul’s transfer from Sheikhupura.
