ISLAMABAD: Two patients died of Covid-19 and 96 got infected in the federal capital and Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours.

According to officials of the capital administration, one person lost his battle against the virus and 68 tested positive in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The deceased was in the age group of 70-79 and was a resident of Bari Imam, the officials said.

During the last 24 hours, 4,149 tests were conducted out of which results of 34 males and 34 females came back positive, with the infection ratio recorded at 1.63pc.

Out of the total number of cases, 16 patients were in their 20s, followed by 15 in the age group of 30-39, nine were in their 50s, eight in the age bracket of 40-49, seven were from 0-9, six were in the age group of 10-19, five in their 60s and two were over 80, the officials said.

They further revealed that five cases were reported from G-10 and F-11, four from F-6, three from I-10, two each from Rawat, F-10, F-8, G-5 and Bhara Kahu and one each from Lohi Bher, G-9, E-11 and Sohan.

The capital has 523 active cases as of March 1, the officials added.

On the other hand, one patient succumbed to the virus and 28 people tested positive in Rawalpindi district on Tuesday.

As many as 12 patients were also discharged from hospitals after recovering during the last 24 hours.

Irshad Mohammad, 64, a resident of Amarpura, was brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) on Feb 28 where he died on Tuesday.

As per data shared by the Punjab government, the positivity ratio of Covid-19 cases in the district stood at 2.46pc during the last 24 hours.

There are 218 active patients in the district out of whom 20 are in hospitals and 198 home isolated.

A total of 10 patients arrived from the cantonment areas while four came from localities in the city. Seven patients arrived from Potohar Town, one was brought from Kahuta, four from Taxila and one patient each came from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit.

Two patients were under treatment in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, two were in Fauji Foundation Hospital, 15 patients were admitted to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and one patient was in Bilal Hospital.

There is one patient on ventilator in Rawalpindi, 15 are on oxygen and four are stable.
