ISLAMABAD: Covid-19 claimed two more lives in the capital while 54 cases were reported in the districts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Monday.

Officials of the capital administration said a man and a woman from Bhara Kahu and G-6 died from the virus.

During the last 24 hours, 2,852 tests were conducted in the capital for detection of the virus, out of which 24 women and 20 men tested positive with the positivity rate of 1.54 per cent.

They said 11 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 10 in 20-29, five each from 40-49 and 50-59, four in 60-69, three in 0-9, 10-19 and 70-79, they added.

In Rawalpindi, 10 more patients tested positive in the last 24 hours, with four belonging to Potohar Town and Rawal Town each and two to Rawalpindi cantonment, reports APP.

District Health Authority said 620 samples were collected, out of which 610 were declared negative while the positivity rate was recorded at 1.61pc.

According to the daily report issued by the District Corona Management Centre, 15 patients were admitted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, two to the Fauji Foundation and Benazir Bhutto Hospital while one patient was admitted to Bilal Hospital. The report said one patient was on a ventilator, four stable and 15 were on double oxygen support.

Around 5,561,033 people, including 44,640 health workers, have so far been vaccinated against the virus, it added.
