LAHORE: Strict security measures were taken for the final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
The entire top police command of Punjab inspected the arrangements, while all roads leading to the stadium were closed an hour before the beginning of the match and special commandos of the law enforcement agencies were put on high alert on the routes of the guests.
Lahore DIG Dr Abid Khan and Chief Traffic Officer Muntazir Mehdi briefed Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Fayyaz Ahmad Dev on security, traffic and parking arrangements.
“Teams were brought to the stadium in a strict security tier”, the DIG (operations) said, adding that more than 8,000 police personnel were deployed for the security of the final match.
“The Lahore police played an important role for the revival of cricket events by holding high-security measures,” he said, adding that the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, district administration, PCB and other law enforcement agencies fully supported the police to ensure security.
