LAHORE: Special Representative of the European Union for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore and EU Ambassador in Pakistan Androulla Kaminara have assured of their full support in extension of GSP Plus status for Pakistan.

Mr Gilmore along with a five-member delegation, including EU ambassador, had called on Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar at the Governor House on Sunday.

During the meeting, the matters regarding bilateral ties between Pakistan and EU, trade promotion and the extension of GSP Plus status were discussed.

Mr Gilmore expressed confidence in the government’s efforts to protect human rights.

Mr Sarwar asked the EU special representative to take notice of the atrocities committed against the Kashmiris and other Indian minorities.

Ms Kaminara said she had always stood by Pakistan on the issue of extension of GSP Plus status and she had held many meetings with Governor Chaudhry Sarwar in this regard.

“Pakistan has played a commendable role in the Afghan peace process and we appreciate Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace,” she added. plored.
