ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Ayub Afridi has underlined the need for devolution of Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) and distribution of its assets accordingly.

Presiding over a meeting for devolution and distribution of WWF assets on Thursday, he said after the 18th Amendment and on recommendations of the Council of Common Interests it was mandatory to devise a mechanism for devolution of WWF.

Ministers of labour from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan also attended the meeting.

Mr Afridi informed the meeting that his ministry was striving to ensure smooth transition at the earliest. He said workers of KP and Balochistan must be facilitated and helped to promote their social mobility.

The adviser promised that he would ensure this transition within his tenure. More deliberation was required through further meetings with all provinces to achieve consensus on a mechanism for devolution, he added.
