KARACHI: Thal Ltd, which manufactures engineering, building and packaging products, earned a profit of Rs3.17 billion for the six months through December, a year-on-year increase of 21.5 per cent, the company announced on Tuesday.

Subsequently, its earnings per share rose to Rs36.10 for the July-December period compared to Rs29.55 during the same period a year ago.

The company’s board of directors proposed an interim cash dividend of Rs5 per share for the period.

PSX profit down 6pc

Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) net profit dipped 6pc to Rs272.4 million during July-December from Rs289.6m a year ago.

Earnings per share went down to 34 paise from 36 paise.

Citi Pharma profit doubles

Citi Pharma Ltd’s after-tax profit more than doubled to Rs343m for the half year ended Dec 31, 2021 from Rs168m in the same period a year ago, the company announced on Tuesday.

The increase in profit was even higher during the October-December quarter, when the company’s earnings jumped 156pc year-on-year to Rs261.7m.

Cnergyico in Rs1.6bn loss

Cnergyico Pk Ltd posted a net loss of Rs1.6bn during the half-year ended Dec 31 compared to a net profit of Rs622m during the year-ago period.

The company’s loss per share stood at Rs0.3 compared to earnings per share of Rs0.12 a year ago.

Millat Tractors earns Rs3.15bn

Millat Tractors Ltd’s net profit increased 7pc during July-December to Rs3.15bn from Rs2.94bn in the same period last year, the company announced on Tuesday.

Its earnings per share rose to Rs46.78 from Rs43.75 a year earlier.
