PESHAWAR: Security forces shot dead a would-be suicide bomber in the Dossali area of North Waziristan tribal district on Monday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the armed forces, said that the would-be terrorist attempted to enter a security post in Dossali by firing small arms and lobbing a hand-grenade.

The statement said that the troops, being alert and prepared for the situation, immediately engaged the terrorist, killing him on the spot.

Some weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorist, who was later identified as Sharif.

The statement said that Sharif was involved in terrorist activities against the security forces and local people of the area had appreciated the prompt response of security forces and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area.

On Feb 6, the security forces had killed a suicide bomber in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Tank area, adjacent to South Waziristan district.
