LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators’ opener Jason Roy has been fined five per cent of his match fee for breaching the code of conduct after being given out during the Pakistan Super League match against Lahore Qalandars here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

Roy misjudged a fast uppish delivery from Lahore captain Shaheen Shah Afridi as the ball had kissed his bat before being caught by wicket-keeper Phil Salt. But a frustrated Roy protested by gesturing with his hand implying that it was an illegal delivery.

Match referee Roshan Mahanama announced the penalty after hearing Roy’s remark right after his dismissal. The batter also accepted his fault.

The fine was announced under article 2.21 of the PSL code of conduct for players and player support personnel, which relates to conduct that brings the game into disrepute.

Lahore won the match by eight wickets.
