DERA GHAZI KHAN, Nov 27: Two persons, including a policeman, were injured when some armed men, including a Jamiat Tulba-i-Islam leader, tried to take control of the central Eidgah here on Thursday night.

Reports said some 12 armed men, led by Maulana Zubair Bhatti, stormed into the Eidgah and opened fire on its legal occupants. One of the occupants, Judat Kamran, was injured in the firing. The intruders took control of the Eidgah at gunpoint.

On information, a police contingent reached the spot. A policeman was also injured in an exchange of fire with the intruders.

The police, however, arrested Maulana Zubair and accomplice Saifullah while the others managed to escape.

A case has been registered against Maulana Zubair and accomplices.

Maulana Zubair had illegally occupied the Eidgah a few years back and established a seminary there. But when the legal occupants moved the court, it decided the case in their favour.
