KARACHI: A suspected bandit was shot dead allegedly by the firing of his accomplice during a robbery in Federal B. Area in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Jauharabad SHO Roshan Khararo said that two armed robbers were trying to loot a family at Ayub Manzil near Meezan Bank Ltd in Block-15 when someone from the family put up resistance. The robbers fired at them, but the bullet missed and hit his accomplice who died on the spot. The deceased was later identified as Shakeel, 30.

The body was shifted to the Edhi morgue after a post-mortem examination at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital as his relatives could not be traced.

The police claimed to have recovered one 9mm pistol with two rounds and one snatched motorbike from him.

The officer said the bike was snatched within the remit of the Mobina Town police station.

Meanwhile, two drug peddlers were arrested and a huge quantity of narcotics was recovered from them, police said on Friday.

They said acting on a tip-off the SITE police arrested Afsar Khan and recovered 10kg hashish.

The Ibrahim Hyderi police arrested Asif alias Burger and recovered 1.5-kg hashish from his possession.
