KARACHI: Eight more patients died of Covid-19 on Monday, while the number of critical patients stood at 396.

According to a statement released by the Chief Minister House, a total of 1,411 new cases emerged overnight when 13,023 tests were carried out across the province.

A total of 667 cases were detected from Karachi, including 257 from district East, 151 Central, 141 South, 70 Korangi and 24 each from Malir and West.

Hyderabad reported 321, Jamshoro 71, Shaheed Benazirabad 48, Dadu 27, Tharpakar 20, Sukkur 20, Tando Allahyar 19, Naushahro Feroze and Tando Muhammad Khan 18 each, Thatta 16, Matiari 14, Ghotki 14, Kashmore 12, Sanghar and Shikarpur 11 each, Umerkot and Larkana 10 each, Badin and Mirpurkhas nine each and Jacobabad six.

“Eight more patients died of Covid-19 overnight, raising the death toll (since the start of the pandemic in February 2020) to 7,829. So far, a total of 7,577,809 tests have been conducted against which 540,672 cases were diagnosed. A total of 487,832 patients have recovered, including 274 overnight,” the statement said.

Currently, according to the statement, 45,011 patients are under treatment. Of them 44,529 are in home isolation, 41 at isolation centres and 441 at different hospitals.

Sharing vaccination data, the CM said that 34,393,088 vaccinations had been administered up to Jan 29 and during the last 24 hours 148,061 vaccines were inoculated.

He said in total 34,541,149 vaccines had been administered, which constituted 62.10pc of the vaccine eligible population.

The chief minister urged the people of the province to follow standard operating procedures.
