LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has assured Shujaat Hussain and Parvez Elahi that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and PML-Q will make decisions together whether it is legislation on local bodies or seat adjustment for elections.
Mr Sarwar visited the residence of Chaudhry Shujaat Husain to inquire after his health and wished him a speedy recovery.
As Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi and Shujaat Hussain’s sons MNA Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Chaudhry Shafay Hussain were also present on the occasion, the governor discussed the current political situation in the country and other issues of mutual interest.
The governor lauded Mr Elahi for taking all opposition parties on board on the local government bill and added that it would be good to take clause-wise decisions.
“The consensus will make the bill more important and easier to implement, the problems that are emerging on the local government in Sindh will not surface in Punjab, and send a positive message,” he said.
Mr Elahi said the private universities are being encouraged in the province and bills being passed unanimously by the Punjab Assembly. He said the new faculties have been created in the universities with better quality that would be in no way inferior to the international universities. “The students will not need to go abroad for higher studies,” he opined.
Shafqat: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Punjab president Shafqat Mahmood on Saturday held meetings with various party delegations from different districts to select suitable candidates for the new party organisations across the province.
At the meetings with the party delegations, the PTI Punjab head also discussed planning and strategies for the upcoming local government elections.
Mr Mahmood also discussed the election in Ward-7, which was earlier postponed.
He said the active and strong workers of the party would now get a chance to contest the local government elections.
He also told the delegations that the government was making efforts to control inflation and ease the lives of people.
