SARGODHA, Nov 25: A constable was killed and two sustained injuries in an encounter with outlaws near Pull-111 on the Sargodha-Faisalabad Road on Friday night. As per details, a highway patrol party was intercepted by three motorcyclists who opened fire. Constable Irfan died on the spot while his colleagues Ansar and Muhammad Iqbal sustained injuries. The patrol squad rushed the injured to a nearby hospital and none chased the assailants.

DPO Muhammad Naeem was leading police teams to the area in search of the outlaws strips: Two doctors and a peon have been awarded 80 strips each under the Qazaf Ordinance for allegedly levelling false allegations against their colleague of having illicit relations with a lady health visitor.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mushtaq Ahmad on Friday awarded the penalty to Dr Muhammad Khan and Dr Qalb-i-Abbas Sherazi, who is now posted as Sahiwal THQ Hospital medical superintendent, and Shahpur THQ Hospital peon Muhammad Ramzan.

Dr Munawar Husain filed a complaint, which was lodged under section 7/11 of Qazaf (Nifaz-e-Had) Ordinance of 1979, read with section 109/34 of PPC.

Dr Husain complained that in 1992 he was posted as the Shahpur Saddar hospital’s medical officer and LHV Nasreen Azmat used to reside in the quarters adjacent to the hospital. Dr Muhammad Khan was in charge of the hospital and Dr Qalb-i-Abbas Sherazi was serving as the Shahpur additional district health officer in those days.

On April 2, he said, Ms Azmat was beaten up by Dr Sherazi’s wife over some issue and he issued a medico-legal certificate to the former. Reacting to it, he said, both the doctors developed a grudge against him and together with peon Ramzan concocted a story of rape of Ms Azmat by him. They, subsequently, moved the sessions judge but he was acquitted.

He also stated that the witnesses had deposed before the court that they were pressured by both the accused, though they had not seen any occurrence.

Accused Ramzan was arrested while both the doctors reportedly escaped.

DACOITY: Four dacoits identified entered a house in New Satellite Town, a posh area of the city, and took away cash. They reportedly raped a housewife before fleeing. Police said the householder had identified the intruders who were at large.
