KARACHI: Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar on Tuesday took notice of the death of 19 people, who lost their lives after consuming ‘toxic’ liquor, in Tando Jam and Tando Allahyar, and ordered suspension of concerned DSPs and SHOs of the two towns.

The IGP also appointed Additional-IG Farhat Ali Junejo as the inquiry officer asking him to file his report within seven days.

According to a police spokesperson, the inquiry officer was tasked to conduct a transparent and impartial inquiry to fix responsibility of the criminal negligence against policemen who were allegedly patronising liquor dens.

The IGP suspended DSPs of Tando Jam and Tando Allahyar and SHOs Tandojam, Bukera and A-Section police stations.
