LAHORE: Punjab reported 2,108 new positive cases of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, the highest number recorded during the fifth wave of the pandemic, taking the total number to 464,474.

The official data shows that the positivity rate of the virus has increased in Rawalpindi to 17.4pc, making it the most vulnerable city of the province. The ratio was recorded at 15pc in provincial capital Lahore.

Punjab Health Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch said most of the new positive cases were reported in Lahore 1,320, showing the city on the top among other districts of the province for Covid transmission.

He said three people died of the Covid-19 in Punjab during the last 24 hours.
