MUZAFFARGARH: The Senior Member Board Of Revenue (SMBoR) as being the appellate authority has set aside the promotions of qanoongos as naib tehsildars by the Dera Ghazi Khan commissioner.

The Lahore High Court, Multan bench, had directed the SMBoR to decide the promotion cases of qanoongos as naib tehsildar strictly as per law after qanoongo Irshad Hussain approached the LHC, Multan bench, challenging the ‘pick and choose’ promotions made by the commissioner, saying that “favourite” qanoongos had been promoted as naib tehsildars.

The SMBoR set aside proceeding of the departmental promotion committee (DPC) meetings held on June 16, 2021, and July 16, 2021, under the commissioner.

He also directed the commissioner to convene a fresh meeting of the DPC and consider the cases of eligible incumbents, including the appellant, to redress their grievances in accordance law within a month.
