BERLIN: RB Leipzig reached the DFB Cup quarter-finals as goals from Yussuf Poulsen and Dani Olmo earned them a no-nonsense 2-0 home win against second division side Hansa Rostock on Wednesday.
Poulsen and Olmo scored either side of the interval to send the Bundesliga club through as fellow top-flight side Borussia Moenchengladbach crashed out in a 3-0 defeat at second division Hanover 96 with teenage forward Maximilian Beier scoring twice.
Union Berlin claimed a 3-2 win at city rivals Hertha Berlin, with Andreas Voglsammer and Robin Knoche both getting on the scoresheet.
Hoffenheim, who sit just above Union in fourth in the Bundesliga, suffered a surprising 4-1 home defeat by Freiburg. The visitors cruised to victory after a first-half double from Vincenzo Grifo.
