TOBA TEK SINGH: A man on Monday strangled his two young nieces over a marriage dispute in Waheed Park locality of Faisalabad in Mansoorabad police precincts.

A Rescue 1122 personnel said a team reached the house of Mirza Tahir Baig and found his two daughters Khadija Bibi (19) and Zainab Fatima (11) strangled.

He said suspect Shoaib Ahmad of Sitara Colony who was overpowered by the locals confessed that he had strangled the two sisters with an electric wire.

The suspect said he also attempted to kill their brother Faizan (14) but he put up resistance and raised an alarm.

The neighbours handed him over to the police while Faizan, who was injured in the process, was admitted to the Faisalabad DHQ Hospital. Police have shifted the bodies to the hospital for autopsy.

According to family sources, Shoaib was uncle (Khaloo) of the girls and had a dispute with their mother (his sister-in-law) over the marriage of Khadija with one Muhammad Hassan despite his strong opposition.

ROBBER INJURED: A robber was allegedly injured in an ‘encounter’ with People’s Colony police in Faisalabad on Monday.

Police said two robbers snatched a motorcycle at gunpoint in Madina Town area near Kashmir bridge on Canal road. After receipt of information, the police chased them and a shootout ensued. One of the suspects was injured in the firing while the other managed his escape.

The injured outlaw was identified as Bilal Ahmad of Madina Town locality.

Police claimed he was wanted in a number of robberies.

ACCIDENT: A tractor-trolley crushed to death two minor boys at Tandlianwala, Faisalabad, on Monday.

Abdul Manan, 12, and Faizan, 8, were going on a motorcycle when the tractor-trolley hit them in front of the Rescue 1122 station. Both the boys received serious injuries and died instantly. They were residents of Chak 422-JB Gulshanabad.
