LAKKI MARWAT: Unidentified gunmen killed a constable of the Counter-Terrorism Department near Shaheed Abid Ali Chowk in Lakki Marwat city on Friday.

A police official said that the martyred constable, Abdul Rehman belonged to Shahmadu village of Lakki Marwat. He was posted in Razmak area of North Waziristan district.

The official said the miscreants riding a motorcycle attacked the constable with weapons, killing him on the spot.

The assailants fled the place after the attack, maintained the official, adding a contingent of police reached the area and launched a search for the attackers.

The body of the deceased was taken to the police lines for offering funeral prayers after fulfilling formalities at the government city hospital.

Police, army and civil administration officials attended the funeral.

Later, the deceased cop was laid to rest in a graveyard of his native village with full official honour.
