HARIPUR: The health authorities and local police here on Thursday exhumed the body of a married woman who died last month under mysterious circumstances in a remote village of Serae Nehmat Khan union council.

Police said Mishal Bibi, 31, was married to Mushtaq Mughal, a mason of Banda Munir Khan village, and the couple had four children.

According to her family, she was often subjected to domestic violence by her husband and in-laws, but herbrothers convinced her to continue living with her husband for the sake of their children.

However, on Dec 26 Mishal’s brothers received the information that she had died due to medical reasons. However, her brother Arshad suspected her death and approached a local court seeking exhumation of his sister’s body.

On the orders of the court of judicial magistrate the medical team of the DHQ hospital, Haripur, exhumed the body onThursday. The doctors collected samples from the body and sent them to Forensic Science Laboratory, Peshawar.

According to doctors, the FSL report would determine the exact cause of death.
