CHENNAI, Nov 22: Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar was forced to wait for his record One-day International appearance after rain washed out the third game against South Africa on Tuesday.

Tendulkar was set to play his 357th match and go past former Pakistan all-rounder Wasim Akram’s record.

Intermittent showers hit the Chepauk ground and umpires Daryl Harper and Krishna Hariharan called off the day-nighter without a ball being bowled.

The five-match series is level at 1-1.

The Proteas, eyeing their maiden one-day series triumph in India, won the opening game in Hyderabad by five wickets before the hosts took the next game by six wickets in Bangalore.

The fourth game will be played in Kolkata on Friday.—Reuters
