SWABI, Nov 22: School principals and teachers who wish to serve in some capacity for the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) examinations or university exams must acquire a no-objection certificate (NoC) from the executive district officer of literacy before they can take up any duties, Dawn has learnt.

Sources said the NWFP directorate had already issued a directive to all government-run schools on this matter. The directorate has cautioned the controllers of BISE and universities in the province to be careful about the certification.

“If any superintendent or invigilator fails to acquire NoC, he or she will not get TA/TDA or remuneration for his duty,” sources said, quoting from the directive.

It was declared that the staff of schools should not be appointed as superintendents /invigilators in the BISE or varsities examinations without the approval/NoC of the respective EDO literacy of the district, otherwise, the education department would not accept any responsibility for the irregularities committed by the staff during the examination.

Sources said such staff would not be relieved by his/her respective EDO for examination duties if appointed without permission.

It was also said that some of the teachers remain on duty in examinations throughout the year on the basis of their personal linkage with the board or universities.

The move has been adopted by the education department to discourage teachers from regularly performing exam duties and depriving their students from weeks of learning each year, according to sources.

Sources said such teachers routinely indulge in illegal activities, resulting in defaming the education department and the examination.
