ISLAMABAD: The drug court of Rawalpindi on Monday dismissed the bail before arrest of the accused involved in manufacturing and selling substandard medicine.

Special Judge of Drug Court Fakhrul Zaman Akhtar rejected the bail of Mirza Abdul Rehman and Amjad Malik. The complaint was lodged against them by the drug inspector of Chakwal division.

As per the complaint, the drug inspector during inspection of some medical stores on Feb 17, 2021 found that the suspension campol, manufactured by Syntex Phamaceuticals Attock, was not according to the prescribed standard.

The accused contended that they had been falsely implicated in the case.

The counsel representing the accused argued that the offences invoked against the suspects were bailable and the petitioners might be granted pre-arrest bail.

The complainant on the other hand opposed the bail petitions stating that the drug in question was declared substandard and the report indicated that it was not in accordance with the prescription.

It was further argued that the petitioners are the chief executive officer and the production in-charge of the pharmaceutical company.

The court noted that the complainant being government servants could not falsely implicate the suspects. Subsequently, the court dismissed the pre arrest bail petitions.

Following the dismissal of bail plea, the police arrested both the accused from outside the court premises.
