KARACHI: Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had formed a joint investigation team to probe into the murder of young Nazim Jokhio.

He said this during a meeting with the victim’s family at their residence in Salar Goth, village of district Malir.

He met Jokhio’s widow Shereen Jokhio, his mother and other family members and inquired about the progress and details of the case and assured them of every possible assistance.

Speaking to the media, the opposition leader said that the murderers of Jokhio would meet their fate soon.

“We fought the case of Nazim Jokhio in the Sindh Assembly and raised our voice against the barbaric act, but when we heard about dialogue between both the parties for out-of-court settlement, we did not intervene for some time so that these people could not accuse us of obstructing the process,” he said.

Haleem Adil says CM offered job to victim’s family to save killers

Mr Sheikh said that they had come again as the victim’s wife appealed for help.

“Shereen Jokhio is our daughter and we will take every possible step to provide her justice,” he said.

He claimed that the victim’s family was being coerced by feudal lords to settle and withdraw the case.

He said that Sardari system had destroyed entire Sindh.

He mentioned that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf was standing beside the oppressed family for the sake of humanity and not for mere political point scoring.

He said that he had seen body of Nazim Jokhio with signs of torture on every part.

Mr Sheikh lauded the courage and bravery of Jokhio’s widow, his mother and other family members, who were determined for the cause of justice and were standing in front of the influential opponents.

Shereen Jokhio told the PTI delegation that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had offered a government job and other benefits to the victim’s family.

Reacting to which, Mr Sheikh expressed regrets that PPP lawmakers “brutally murdered the innocent young man” and CM was extending job offers just to save the culprits.

He demanded public hanging for the killers of young Jokhio.

Speaking on the occasion, Shereen Jokhio said that her husband did not have any personal enmity with sardars. He was brutally murdered because he dared to challenge them, she said.

Appealing for justice, she said that the chief minister promised measures to grant them justice, but nothing was done to fulfil his commitments nor the suspects were removed from public offices.

Speaking to the media, slain activist’s brother, Afzal Jokhio, said that it was the responsibility of the Sindh government to ensure justice, but provincial ministers were sleeping in their homes.

The victim’s family expressed their gratitude to the leader of the opposition for extending assistance and paying visit to them.

Local PTI leaders Dr Masroor Sial, Haji Hafeez Jokhio and others were also present.
