Asia Cup women trials

KARACHI, Nov 19: The final trials to pick players for the Asia Cup women cricket tournment concluded at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) on Saturday. Secretary of Pakistan Cricket Board, Women Wing Shamsha Hashim watched the trials.

Out of 60 players from Sindh and Balochistan provinces, who appeared on the first day, 25 five players were picked up after their short-listing on the final day.

The trials were held under the supervsion of chairman selection committee, Imtiaz Ahmed and members Javed Zaman and Asif Ahmed.

In all, 11 girls appeared from Hyderabad, one from Balochistan and remaining from Karachi.

In the second phase, trials for Punjab and NWFP women will be held in Lahore from Nov 20 to 21.

After final selection of the players, the former captain of Pakistan Imtiaz Ahmed will hold training camp in Karachi.

The Women Asia Cup will be played from Dec 27 to Jan 3 in Karachi.—APP
