PEDESTRIAN MOVEMENT: The redevelopment of Shaheed-i-Millat Road was completed in December 2019. The redesign necessitated the closure of the road’s crossing with Khalid bin Waleed Road. However, no arrangement has been made for pedestrian movement on the said intersection. As a result, people now have to cross the signal-free speedway at the risk of injury or worse. The authorities would do well to give some consideration to the concerns of the common citizens, too, while designing such projects.

SMOG HAZARDS: As smog has blanketed parts of Punjab, it has become difficult to breath in the open air in Kasur. Just about everybody is found complaining of having a bad cough and itching eyes. Besides, several accidents have taken place on the Depalpur Road as visibility has suddenly dropped. The district houses a large number of small factories that emit poisonous gasses on a daily basis, making things worse. There is a dire need to make these industries environment-friendly.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED: The YB Chorangi Flyover, which connects the Export Processing Zone with the National Highway, has been in a dilapidated condition for some time. The iron bars of the flyover have become exposed and the concrete material is getting eroded, causing a huge loss of human and material resources. The flyover deserves the attention of the authorities concerned.

PUBLIC OFFICES: Government employees usually spend hours of office time in useless meetings, leaving the people waiting unattended all day long. People rarely get relief from the offices that are meant to serve them, and are actually run with the taxpayers’ money. The matter can be resolved if the government designates the time slot from 9am to 2pm for public matters only, and making it mandatory to hold meetings post-lunch.
